A review on treatment processes of chicken manure

The poultry industry is a fast-growing fuelled by overwhelming customer demand. Of the different meat options, chicken arguably most popular as it second staple food item in Malaysia after rice. Consequently, due to demand for meat, manure produced abundance. In fact, produces 80 g 100 of daily, corresponding 3-4% its body weight. Utilizing raw an organic fertilizer without any prior treatment results adverse environmental consequences this common practice acts vector propagation pathogens, attracting flies and pests well contributing odour problems. Treatment methods using pesticides, effective microorganisms daily collection disposal have been adopted farmers but these techniques are relatively costly associated with potential threats. Other such composting, pyrolysis, gasification, anaerobic digestion, hydrothermal liquefaction torrefaction drawing interest their ability convert waste value-added products. Approximately, 77,209 tonnes per day 2014 can potentially generate up 3.86 million m3 methane from equivalent generation 139.5 TJ heat or 38.7 GWh electricity theoretically. This paper reviews technical practical aspects mentioned above terms operation, performance limitations. also examines preferential relation product outputs good market while being environmentally sustainable.
